§1What this policy covers

This policy describes what personal information Be The Insider ("we," "the Service") collects from subscribers, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep it simple because our data practices are simple: we collect the minimum needed to send you alerts, and we don't sell it to anyone.

§2Information we collect

When you subscribe, we collect the information you provide on the signup form:

• First and last name
• Email address
• Mobile phone number
• Age (to verify you are 16 or older)
• City and country

We also keep operational records the Service generates, such as your subscription status (active or unsubscribed) and the date you joined. We do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or precise location data, and our website does not use advertising trackers.

§3How we use your information

• To deliver SMS alerts about federal contract awards — the core purpose of the Service
• To send service messages, such as your welcome text and unsubscribe confirmations
• To verify eligibility (age 16+) and prevent duplicate or abusive signups
• To respond when you contact us for support

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not send marketing on behalf of other companies.

§4Sharing — and what we never share

We share information only with the service providers required to operate the Service:

• Twilio, our SMS delivery provider, which processes your phone number to send messages, subject to its own privacy and security obligations
• Our hosting and database providers, which store subscriber records on our behalf
• Legal authorities, if and only if required by law, subpoena, or court order

That's the complete list. There are no data brokers, advertisers, or "partners" receiving your information.

§5Data retention

We retain your information while your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, we mark your record inactive and retain it only as needed to honor your opt-out (so we never accidentally text you again) and to meet legal and operational requirements. You may request full deletion of your record at any time by emailing us.

§6Security

Subscriber data is stored in an access-controlled database, and we limit access to those who operate the Service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information and will notify affected subscribers in the event of a breach involving their personal data, as required by law.

§7Your choices and rights

• Opt out of SMS: reply STOP to any message at any time
• Get help: reply HELP to any message or email us
• Access, correct, or delete your data: email hello@betheinsideralerts.com from your subscribed address and we will respond within 30 days

Depending on where you live (for example, Illinois, California, the UK, or the EU), you may have additional statutory rights regarding your personal data. We will honor valid requests under applicable law.

§8Children

The Service is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to subscribe. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 16, we will delete it.

§9Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
